A rare large embellished black-lacquer cabinet
Late Ming/early Qing dynasty
Of massive rectangular form supported on corner posts, separated into an upper section with two panel doors and a larger main section with additional panel doors, both sections intricately inlaid with mother-of-pearl, soapstone, coloured glass and other hardstones with exquisite designs of birds on flowering branches, issuing from rockwork, all against a rich black lacquered ground, the reverse and underside not lacquered, the interior of the main section with four shelves, the brass fittings finely cast of trefoil form.
