An Yixing stoneware 'peach' water vessel
Qing dynasty
The finely potted vessel moulded in the form of a hollow half peach, the smoothly finished interior applied with a peach stone of red clay, joined to a smaller whole peach, all supported on a gnarled branch issuing three luxuriant leaves, the peach stone and the tips of each peach speckled with red slip, the smaller peach split at the tip to form the water dropper, the underside of the larger peach impressed with a two-character zhuanshu seal, the stoneware of an even beige with areas of rich reddish-brown.
13.4cm long.

    清 段泥凸雕雙桃式水盂

    「壽文」篆文方印

    水盂成雙桃實形,大桃實分成一半成盂身,內有一顆桃核,其枝葉於底部成支撐,在枝葉間刻有「壽文」二字篆文方印,生趣盎然。整體以黃砂泥捏造,桃核與小桃染上紅色,泥質細膩。對比例子可參考清宮舊藏,見故宮博物院編,《故宮博物院藏宜興紫砂》,頁213-214,圖版122-123。
