A pair of Yixing stoneware enamelled vases

Each of elegant pear-shaped form, the slender body rising from a slightly flared foot rim, applied at the shoulders with a pair of elephant-head handles suspending loose rings, finely enamelled in rich tones of pink, blue, green, yellow and white, one vase with a phoenix depicted swooping amidst flowering plants, the reverse with two egrets standing below a magpie perched on a pine tree, the other with bamboo, plum blossoms, peonies, chrysanthemums and lotus flowers, all between a band of key-fret borders on the lip rim and upright lappets with a cloud scroll above the foot, the clay of an even beige tone, the base with a two-character zhuanshu Shenxi sealmark.
