An Yixing stoneware 'peach' cup
Early Qing dynasty, signed Chen Mingyuan
naturalistically potted in the form of a large sliced peach supported on a gnarled branch with three luxuriant leaves, and a smaller ripe uncut fruit, the larger fruit smoothly polished to the interior, applied with a peach stone, the stoneware of an attractive beige colour with slight flecking, the exterior with blushes of red, the underside impressed with a seal.
11.5cm long.

    清早期 紫泥桃杯

    「陳鳴遠」篆文方印

    杯呈半桃實形,杯內塑桃核一粒,其枝椏成柄,一直伸延至其底部,潤澤葉子隨隨而生,枝端另帶有小桃實三棵。枝椏處鈐「陳鳴遠」篆文方印。

    香港中文大學文物館藏一件陳鳴遠作桃杯,工藝及形制類似,見《紫泥清韻-陳鳴遠陶藝研究》,1997,頁104,圖版21。另一件藏於費城藝術博物館的十八世紀桃杯,見謝瑞華編《I-Hsing Ware》紐約,1977年,頁70,圖版45。
