An Yixing stoneware 'hundred-fruit' teapot and cover

Qianlong, signed Ge Zhenxiang
Naturalistically moulded of pomegranate form with a 'water-chestnut' handle and lotus-shoot spout, the skilfully fitted cover moulded in the form of a mushroom, the main body decorated with applied fruits and nuts around the shoulder in differing coloured clays and slip, incised with an extensive inscription in kaishu, the underside of the spout impressed with two zhuanshu seals, the stoneware of a rich beige-brown with extensive paler speckles.

Footnotes

The seal marks read 'Jiangji' and 'Xiaoxiang'. The inscription is a poem eulogising the pomegranate and other fruits displayed on the teapot.

Ge Zhengxiang is recorded as a native of Yixing who mostly produced teapots and bowls during the Qianlong/Jiaqing period (1736 - 1820).

清乾隆段泥百果壺

壺成圓形，上配倒置香菇，壺身散置貼塑花生、瓜子、蠶豆、棗、核桃、蓮子、紅豆、荔枝等十六種堅果，以菱角為柄、藕節為流。堅果均參照實物比例，肌理表達細緻逼真。壺身刻上行楷詩句「本是榴房結子多，菱腰藕口品如何？裝來顆粒皆秋色，百果園中次第歌」，落款「貞祥」。葛貞祥，清乾隆、嘉慶間宜興紫砂藝人，惜生卒不詳。在藕節下方鈐「蔣記」、「小祥」楷文方印兩枚。

與同場拍賣品(拍品編號229)相比，內容及造形一致，唯本壺較小，以段泥摻以其他紫砂泥作壺，色彩較為鮮明，感覺較為精緻。

北京故宮博物院舊藏宜興窯百果壺(圖版36)，以及清乾隆宜興窯百果壺(圖版27)，跟本壺的器形極為相似；在百果壺上刻詩句的例子還有故宮舊藏百果詩句硯滴壺(圖版118)，詳細請參考故宮博物院編，《故宮博物院藏宜興紫砂》，頁96, 87及209。
