A Tortoise shell composition Snuffbox, by repute belonging to Lord Nelson.
The top fitted with a watercolour miniature of the Amalfi coast retained by a gold metal ring. Together with a framed manuscript letter, originally folded within which states: My Father had either lost his own snuff box on going ashore or in some shop in Palermo and upon mentioning the circumstances at Lady Hamilton's table where Lord Nelson was one of the party his Lordship handed over to him this identical box and desired him to keep it until he could get a better one.     By repute given to George Unwin, merchant and one time Purser on HMS Prince George at the Battle of Cape St Vincent and Secretary to Lord Nelson. From thence to his son George Unwin (the author of the letter) and by descent via his wife Ann Oxenham to her brother Rev. William Oxenham and his descendants and finally a cousin Captain Nutcombe Hume in 1924. Thence by descent.
