- Designed by Blue Sky Design, the 2000 relay was the longest in Olympic history. After a relay in Greece, the flame was carried by plane to Oceania where it was carried through the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and all parts of Australia, where there were 11,000 bearers alone. A total of 14,000 torches were made.
