  • Lord Burghley, David George Brownlow Cecil (1905 – 1981), was an English athlete, sports official and Conservative Party politician. He won the gold medal in the 400m hurdles at the 1928 Summer Olympics.

    This box was presented to Lord Burghley at the 1968 Olympic Games for his membership of the International Olympic Committee, later presented to the vendor as a leaving gift by Lady Victoria Leatham of Burghley House Stamford. The lot includes a letter of authenticity signed by the vendor.
