A Meissen teabowl and saucer, circa 1726
Painted with chinoiserie scenes within gilt scrollwork cartouches filled with Böttger lustre and embellished with iron-red and purple scrollwork, the saucer with a seated figure with teawares in a tent with another figure overhead, the teabowl with a figure with an animal on one side and three rabbits on the reverse, the teabowl with hanging sprays of indianische Blumen to each side, and a spray in the centre, gilt scroll and strapwork borders to the rims, the teabowl: 4.9cm high; the saucer: 12.7cm diam., gilt numeral 4. to both, impressed .. inside footrim of teabowl for Johann Martin Kittel and incised / to saucer (2)
