A fine and early Worcester sauceboat, circa 1753
Of unusual size, of oval fluted form with a pronounced lip, the loop handle with an upturned leaf moulded thumbrest, crisply moulded with floral scrollwork cartouches, the panels painted in famille rose with vignettes of floral branches, one with a songbird perched on a branch, a third cartouche under the lip painted with a single winged insect, the interior rim painted with four ribboned Precious Objects, an insect painted in the base, 15.5cm long
