A fine Chelsea melon tureen and a similar leaf dish, circa 1755
Naturalistically moulded as a melon, shaded in tones of yellow and green highlighted in brown, the handle formed as a curled stalk issuing leaves and yellow flowers and buds, 17.7cm long, red anchor marks, red numerals 5 on the cover and 7 on the base, the stand formed as a large cabbage leaf dish with raised veins picked out in puce, painted with a central spray of flowers, the rim edged in green and yellow, 27.3cm long, red anchor mark (restoration to handle and flower petals of tureen, and to section of rim of the stand) (3)
