Lot Details
A rare naive English Pottery model of a bird, late 18th century
Modelled as a parrot perched upon a hollow woody stump, perhaps intended as a spill vase, a hole at the end of the tail allowing its use as a whistle, its plumage mottled in ochre, blue and yellow, its eyes and talons in brown clay, the green stump mounted on a square base with neoclassical moulding also made of brown clay, 20cm high (some restoration)

Footnotes

  • Provenance: Geoffrey Wills Collection. The combination of red and white clay in one figure is unusual.
