A Staffordshire scratch-blue saltglaze porter mug, dated 1766
Of generous cylindrical form on a slightly spreading foot with a strap handle, incised with decoration of scrolling branches of large flowers framing a central inscription 'Thos. Elles 1766', all picked out in cobalt-blue, 11.8cm high (handle restuck, minor cracks)
