An important Nantgarw plate, circa 1818-20
Painted in Marcolini Meissen style at the Sims workshop in London, probably by James Plant, a shepherd seated before a water fountain surmounted by a classical urn, flanked by a large cow and three reclining sheep, a small dog curled up asleep in the foreground, the C scroll border picked out in gold and painted with sprays of flowers against a ground of closely-packed gold dots, 25cm diam, impressed NANT-GARW CW below an incised number 3 (slight wear)
