Footnotes

  • Tazze of this form are strongly associated with Nantgarw, none being recorded at Swansea and only a very small number from other British makers. Luxury objects of essentially decorative character, they were mostly London decorated although a few locally painted examples are recorded. Three examples are illustrated by Rowland Williams, Nantgarw Porcelain, figs 96 and 97. Interestingly, a similar tazza was included as part of the Nantgarw writing set formerly in the Blenheim Palace Collection and illustrated by W D John, Nantgarw Porcelain Album (1975), illustration 27.
