A good Nantgarw plate, circa 1818-20
Painted in London, probably in the Bradley workshop, the central spray including a purple and yellow variegated tulip, the C scroll border painted with a red-breasted bird and five floral sprigs including a chrysanthemum with a butterfly resting on one petal, within a gilt dentil rim, 25cm diam, impressed NANT-GARW CW

  • Although this plate does not include a spray of fruit in the border, it is clearly related to the Brace service, see lot 213 in this sale. It therefore belongs to a group of related patterns produced at the Bradley workshop.
