Footnotes

  • A similar cup and saucer is illustrated by Anne McNair, Catalogue of the Lady Ludlow Collection (2007), No 121, p 144. For a discussion on the suggested period in which the incised N mark was in use, see Stephen Mitchell, The Marks on Chelsea-Derby (2007), Chapter IV. See also p 47 where he suggests that this style of decoration was done in London, probably at the Chelsea factory. He suggests that Zachariah Boreman may have been responsible, prior to his move to Derby. Related wares are illustrated at plate 29.
