Footnotes

  • The creamboat painted in colours with two flower sprays was included in the 2005 Caughley Polychrome exhibition in Ironbridge. A curious feature of Caughley Gadroon Boats is the presence of a star or asterisk incised under the footrim on almost every recorded example. The unglazed waster shows this mark clearly, but doesn't help to explain its purpose.
