Three Caughley creamboats, circa 1775-95
All of 'Chelsea ewer' shape, one early example of 'low' form, painted in blue with the 'Convolvulus' pattern with a cell border to the inside rim, 6.5cm high, painted C mark, the other 'Low' ewer painted in blue with the rare 'Tower' pattern, both with double scroll handles with upturned thumbrests, 6.9cm high, the other 'tall' Chelsea ewer printed in blue with the Fisherman pattern, the handle and rims highlighted in gold, 8.9cm high (3)

  • The two 'Low Chelsea Ewers' in this lot form an interesting comparison between the superb early moulding and the equally uncommon late example.
