A very rare Meissen ormolu-mounted candlestick, circa 1730
Painted with a dragon among cloud scrolls, the base with three animal masks issuing scroll feet, the ormolu mount with three branches terminating in foliate sconces and drip-trays, 22cm high, caduceus mark in underglaze-blue (minor flaking to turquoise enamel, old repairs to ormolu)

The author notes (p. 93) that the illustrated example was one of a pair sold by Sotheby's London, 22 February 1966, lot 107; a similar pair with a Zürich dealer in 1974, and the pair from the Kramarsky Collection, sold by Christie's New York, 20 October 1993, lot 24.
