A Sèvres lobed tray, circa 1780
Plateau 'Boret', painted by Pierre Massy, of lobed hexafoil shape raised on a high foot, with a central circular medallion of a single pink rose within a green ground border, framed by interlaced swags of pink and blue ribbons housing gilt diaper panels, with a band of gilt feuille-de-choux to the moulded rim, 21.2cm diam, interlaced LL monogram enclosing date letters cc, painter's mark in blue

    Pierre Massy is recorded as a painter of flowers and birds at the Sèvres factory between 1779-1802. This shape was introduced at Vincennes in 1755 and was known as 'Plateau tasses glace à ornements'.
