Of cylindrical form with a tapering neck, painted with two landscapes framed by raised gilt scrollwork set against a green ground, the cover inscribed with the title 'GREEN' framed by raised gilt scrolls, surrounded by three small spray of flowers, with metal mounts, 9.4cm high

  • This canister was intended to store Green Tea. Early in the 18th century both green and black teas shared equal popularity, but by the time this canister was made, the consumption of black tea was gaining the advantage
