A bronze and mahogany yacht cannon
L.T. Snow - The "Strong" Cannon Mfg., New haven Conn., USA; late 19th century
the breech is stamped: L T Snow/The "Strong" Cannon.- M' F' R -" (Heraldic Eagle Device) "New Haven. Conn." "U. S. A." with a 20-inch barrel and fitted with spring loaded firing pin, with lanyard release and spring loaded camming extractor with long thumb lever. Mounted on a mahogany two wheel naval carriage with heavy brass trunnion caps and capstan screw elevation device. Carriage is through bolted with bronze fittings and rigging eyes. Oak axles have brass capped ends. Lignum vitae wheels are retained by large brass washers with turned thole pins.
