    In the early 1970s, after ten years, Zajac renewed his interest in the sacrificial animal as the subject of his sculpture. Living in Italy at the time, Zajac created the Bound Goat series, which was exhibited at the Galleria Dell'Obelisco in Rome. Soon after, Zajac returned to the United States and began his teaching career at University of California, Santa Cruz.
