Sikhote-Alin with Regmaglypts and Flow Lines
Iron 11AB, Coarsest Octahedrite
Maritime Territory, Russia
Distinctive features of this meteorite include regmaglypts of varying sizes and a sharp peak on top as well an interesting fissure down the center of the meteorite as a result of the explosive Sikhote-Alin breakup. There are even some delicate flow lines remaining from the melting that took place during the meteorite's passage through Earth's atmosphere. Sikhote-Alin was a rare witnessed fall, on February 12, 1947, resulting in craters surrounded by torn and damaged trees felled and broken by the rain of the nickel-iron celestial visitors. Here is an opportunity to own a fascinating specimen from this historic meteorite fall.
