Here is a mystery sure to engage any meteorite collector, student or enthusiast: an unidentified meteorite. In the summer of 2010, a gold prospector using a metal detector located a piece of underground metal and was surprised to find that he had recovered the only meteorite ever found from its location in Western Arizona. The end piece has been removed and is currently being studied by the University of Arizona. The coordinates of the fall have been provided to the University and it is expected that this mysterious meteorite will be given its name soon. The acid etched surface reveals a widmanstatten crystalline structure that is unique among meteorites.
