The Spirit Remains - Collection of Native American Artifacts
The Spirit Remains is a rare and unique collection of untouched Tenino Native American artifacts together with objects crafted from stone originating from the Tenino site. The collection has been so named because burn material from a prehistoric campsite has been excavated without human touch, in order to capture and preserve the prehistoric spirit of the ancient people. The burn material included in the collection is composed of hammer stones, shards and broken tips from a prehistoric campfire in a cave where Native Americans worked to create weapons, jewelry and tools from the chalcedony that lined the cave walls. The modern tools and jewelry in this collection were crafted of stone from the site by contemporary artists, exposing the stone's character as the Tenino did 1,500 years ago. These are comprised of a pendant, a belt buckle, a necklace, a pair of ear pendants and a pocket knife. Offered in a custom case.
