Large Boulder Opal Specimen
Queensland, Australia
A boulder opal specimen, impressive in size, displays a thick ivory-toned opaque portion of opal, with some pink and green flash, atop a chocolate colored body with delicate amber-toned swirls. Boulder opal is found in Australia where precious opal forms in veins within brown ironstone boulders. The very large band of opal was exposed when a portion of the nodule in which it was formed weathered and fell away.
