Fossil Reptile Tracks
Coconino Sandstone, Arizona
This interesting ichnofossil recreates a moment that occurred over 275 million years ago. Fifteen footprints are seen, including four toes and claws, which are clearly visible and raised over the light tan colored limestone matrix. From an early mammal-like reptile genus such as Chelichnus or Captorhinus, the footprints appear to be from the same individual, as they face the same direction and are similar in size.
Matrix measures 22 x 10in; largest footprint measures 1.5 x 1.24in
