PRESENTATION COPY FROM WILLIAM SPEIRS BRUCE, who, acting with the blessing of the Scottish Geographical Society raised the funds for and led the Scottish National Antarctic expedition aboard the Scotia (1902-1904). Bruce had hoped to raise funds for a second expedition to Antarctica in 1910-1911, and it seems likely this volumes was inscribed during this time.
