Footnotes

  • Written by Bennett, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons who joined the expedition "with a view to investigate the anatomy and habits of Southern Wales". The ship visited the Pitcairn Island, Tahiti, and Hawaii. The work was lauded by Herman Melville as one of the best descriptions of whaling in the southern oceans.
