  • "The scarcest of the expedition's firsthand narratives" (Rosove). This first American includes and additional author's preface leaf (iv*-iv*) omitted from the first London edition. Taylor was the geologist on the expedition, his good humour considered a major asset for the party. His text includes witticisms, artwork, and good science in geology and study of glaciers.
