The watercolours comprise: "Entering Strait of Bebel Mandeb. Osterley. April 22 1913", a view of one of the islands in the Bab-el-Mandeb, the strategic key to the Red Sea. Cherry-Garrard travelled back to the UK on the Australian hospital ship, S.S. Osterley; an untitled view of a tent surmounted by a small flag. See illustration overleaf.
