  • The note reads as follows: "The Polar Party and their sledge. Photograph taken by Lieut. H. R. Bowers on the Polar Plateau showing his companions harnessed to their sledge. The Film from which this was taken was brought back by Capt. R. F. Scott to the final camp where he and his other two surviving comrades died. It lay beside the body of the dead leader for eight months before it was found. It was developed a month later in the hut at Cape Evans. The writing is by Apsley Cherry Garrard. The photograph belonged to Mrs. Bowers". Supplementary Photograph A in the Fine Art Society catalogue.
