An ivory netsuke of a shishi
Attributed to Garaku, Osaka, late 18th/early 19th century
Seated, looking back with a loose ball in its open mouth, its forepaws resting against a huge ball, which is carved with drapery to disguise old cracks, the ivory is slightly worn and the eye pupils are inlaid, signed in a raised rectangular reserve Garaku.
