A small ivory netsuke of a shishi
By Risuke Garaku, Osaka, late 18th century
Recumbent, its head turned to the left as it scratches its ear, its open mouth bearing a loose ball and its legs drawn in to form a compact composition, the rather worn ivory bears a fine patina and the eye pupils are inlaid, faintly signed in an irregular reserve Garaku.
