Chipping with loss of text in final leaf of final part, occasional short tears, parts 1-3 not stitched, toning.

IN ORIGINAL PARTS. An early edition of perhaps the most well-known penny blood, which has been adapted numerous times beginning almost immediately after its initial appearance under the title The String of Pearls. Among those credited with the creation of the original story are James Malcolm Rymer, Thomas Peckett Prest, Edward P. Hingston, George Macfarren and Albert Richard Smith.
