Footnotes

  • Edison spends days observing, watching and understanding the mass movement of female gatherers on the shores of Zanzibar in Uganda's neighboring Tanzania.

Through simple brush strokes, thick textures and mirror like reflections, Mugalu captures the feeling of an early morning commute to work.

Unlike many of his contemporaries, Mugalu is a self-taught artist. Motivated and enthusiastic to continue his studies, Mugalu consistently attends workshops and educational programmes and is another artist set to develop ongoing skills at the Ugandan Arts Trust.
