A Mennecy silver-mounted oval snuff box, circa 1760-70
Moulded with a basketwork pattern overall, reserved on the cover with a large flower-head in low relief, heightened in puce and blue, and with a scroll-edged, diamond-shaped cartouche on the base enclosing a painted flower spray, painted with scattered flower sprigs overall, the inside cover with a flower spray, the mount with indistinct discharge mark, possibly for Rome, and for Julien Alaterre, Paris, 1768-79, 7cm across
