A rare Meissen silver-gilt-mounted tobacco pot, circa 1750-60
Finely painted with three landscape vignettes depicting animals fighting, the base with a similar scene, the cover with wolves attacking a deer and the inside cover with a bear fighting two hounds, the silver-gilt mount with a cord-like rim, 8cm high

    The bear hunt on the inside cover is based upon an engraving of 1746 by Johann Elias Ridinger (1698-1767) inscribed 'Anno 1720. Have drawn the bear hunt according to nature'.
