1859 Lapirot issue 2p blue (14, S.G. 37) position 7, enormous margins to clear at top, minor faults, "14" in circle cancel and tied by manuscript on neat envelope (restored at bottom) bearing fine boxed "Plains Magnum JU 30 1859" (Kanai 11B-3) handstamp, ms. paid and addressed to Port Louis with July receiver on reverse. With Brandon certificate (2011). Est. Cash Value $6,000-8,000 Kanai states that there are seven Early Impression covers. We note: 1] Kanai, one combination cover 2-4] Dale Lichtenstein - none certified, 5] Ferrari. The D. Feldman pricing guide lists the Early Impressions on cover at $35,000, higher than all but the Barnard Issue Earliest Impressions.

1848 1p orange-vermilion on yellowish paper position 4 (3, S.G.3) brilliant color, large to enormous margins all round with neat nearly head free circle of bars cancel with "3" (Souillac)in center cancel (Kanai 11 E-3), two faint thins and minor pinhole, superb appearance.Ex Hind (1934 lot 262), R.J. Stevens (1964), with Brandon certificate (2011). A stunning stamp from the scarcest of impressions. $17,500.00 (S.G. £15,000) First recorded in the Hind sale (Harmer 1934 lot 262). Hind probably purchased it in the 1920's as part of the enormous H.J. Duveen collection of which he bought much of the Mauritius. The Harmers again sold this copy in 1964 as part of the R.J. Stephens collection.

1859 18kr Blue without Silk Threads (18, Mi 15) vertical pair, full o.g., good margins all round, rich deep color, full original gum, extremely fine, a magnificent pair, $8,400.00 as two singles, used pairs of this issue are generally valued at a 50% premium. (Mi E8400 as singles) In the Boker collection there were no unused multiples of the 18kr, and only one single. Truly an exhibition piece.
