Footnotes

  • Accompanied by a gemmological report, stating that the jadeite is natural and no evidence of polymer impregnation was detected. Report dated 19th January 2011

This jadeite double cabochon is cut into the form of a 'Gingko Nut'. Only jadeite with a phenomenally high level of translucency, old mine fine texture, high lustre and a rich emerald green quality would be chosen to be polished into a perfectly proportioned Gingko Nut. The shape is said to increase the return of light from the bottom, thus intensifying the brightness and colour. The material does not require the usual reflecting metal backing from the mounting and despite the depth of colour, the translucency of the material means light can pass through the cabochon from different angles, with reflecting effects serving to maximize the lustre of the jadeite.
