One owner from new, fewer than 26,000 original miles
1980 MGB Roadster Limited Edition
Chassis no. GVVDJ2AG509496
The much-loved, long-running MGB series, which had debuted in 1962, was in its swan song years by the late 1970s, and a special "Limited Edition" model was conceived to give the model a proper departure. Just under 7,000 'LE' models were produced during 1979-1980; they featured special black paint and badging, a front air dam, five-spoke alloy wheels, a luggage rack, special dash plaque and a leather-covered three-spoke steering wheel.
These final editions are sought after being the last of the breed, and the example on offer here is truly exceptional in that it is described as having fewer than 26,000 miles from new. Sold new by Falvey Motors of Troy, Michigan, the car was used sparingly at first, limited to trips around Lake Huron during the Michigan summers.
In 1983, the MG's owners relocated to Brea, California, where the 'B' was garaged and driven only on special occasions. During the early 1990s, the MG enjoyed a position of honor as the host car of three annual Goofball Rallies.
In recent times the MG was pulled out of the garage and serviced with the help of MG enthusiast Bobby Colosia and British Connection of Bellflower, California. Complete with its original window sticker, MGB Driver's Handbook and 1978 MGB Repair Manual, as well as its original jack, tonneau and hood cover, this is a truly desirable late MGB.
