The mouth rim above the tall perpendicular sides covered with a russet wash, the exterior painted with a continuous landscape in cobalt of gradated hues depicting water plants including lotus blossoms and leaves, grasses and stones amid a rippled pond limned with a few spare brush strokes, all supported by a flat footless unglazed base of well-levigated paste.
