The beast crouched slightly asymmetrically on his front haunches with face, ears, pelt, spine and legs incised in tightly rendered stylized curlicues; the matrix of the stone in dark gray-green with natural inclusions in auburn hue, perhaps intentionally utilized by the artisan to evoke the animals fur.
