Two carved and tinted ivory figure female figures
Late Qing/Republic period
The first a beauty, the lithe figure portrayed standing in flowing robes holding in her right hand a spray of blossoms, her robes delicately incised to imitate embroidery and tinted in rose and blue colored pigment; the second a female warrior, possibly Hua Mulan, standing fully armored with a wide hat framing her youthful visage and the details of her armor picked out in black pigment, her left hand resting on her sword hilt while the other grasps a halberd blade-down behind her back.
