1848-D $5 XF45 NGC
A scarce Dahlonega half eagle that is seldom seen any finer than the present grade. This piece exhibits soft green-gold color but is softly struck at the left side of the obverse and at the center of the reverse, this probably the result of improper die alignment. A diagonal die crack is across the reverse, this being diagnostic for the issue. A highly collectible example. (PCGS 8238)
