Cat's Eye Kornerupine
Sri Lanka
Kornerupine is a rare gemstone. It is frequently mistaken for emerald due to its wonderful emerald green color. It is similar, but with a higher refractive index and with pleochroism depending on its angle of viewing. The present stone is a rich vibrant green fashioned as a round cabochon with a strong central cat's eye effect. It is particularly large for the species.
