One can see the hand of a virtuoso stone carver in this work by Dreher created circa 1985. Depicting an tropical scene rendered in a variety of gemstones: the orchid is carved of natural untreated agate, the leaves and stem portions are Russian nephrite and the hummingbird's body is carved of natural Afghani lapis lazuli. Its wings are inset with natural and untreated agate while the eyes are inset with sapphire cabochons. Accented in 18K yellow gold with several marquise-shaped diamonds weighing a total of approximately 0.24 carats.
