SAN QUENTIN.
Manuscript album, 792 pp recto and verso, folio, San Quentin, CA, November 1, 1888 to November 28, 1891, being the record of prisoners incarcerated during the period, accomplished in a uniform hand, bound in half red calf over suede boards, pages thumbed, wear to binding, spine defective with adhesive remnants visible.

In this careful record of the state's worst offenders from 1888-1891, each prisoner is assigned a number alongside the record of his name, crime, county of residence, length of term, nativity, age, occupation, physical description, and date of discharge. This volume covers prisoners 13281-14737. Crimes include robbery, burglary, grand larceny, forgery, embezzlement, and receipt of stolen goods, as well as more violent crimes like assault, manslaughter and murder.
